So what do I mean when I use conversation in this context?:
For me everything we experience, which we subsequently remember and integrate into our consciousness, becomes a conversation. You could more accurately call it a story (more about that later). We think about it with words in our minds and quite often talk about it with other people. Often we take action on our conversations, as the Wright Brothers did with their conversation about a heavier-than-air flying machine. That conversation, once enacted, transformed the world. Mermaid Song is one means to initiate a conversation, that once enacted by a number of people in any way they are inspired to, will transform our world. This is why I am a writer. I tell stories to create a conversation that will open new areas of thought and creativity–thinking outside the box, creating a new context for living life.
This is the only way anyone has ever created anything new. The new thing I’m committed to seeing people create is the human race flourishing another million years at least. Remaining on our current path, where only our numbers are flourishing as we kill our world, I’d not be surprised if we go extinct within the next few generations. Perhaps it’s well past time we enacted a new conversation about who we are as human beings.
